First, what do we mean with chain integration? Retail companies are traditionally organized in functional, vertical columns like supply chain, procurement, category management, promotions and the shops, with each of the columns having its own objectives. But the product (groups) are supported by each of these columns. With chain integration we mean here the horizontal organization and governance through these columns, that can lead to optimal margins, revenue and customer satisfaction. This does not only include the supply chain function, but also areas like promotion policy, assortment choices and shelving plans.

Behavior always takes place in a context. Every person grew up in a family. There you learn to adapt to your environment. At school other things are asked than at home.
Every form of cooperation is part of a larger whole. Problems in a partial system are often a solution for the larger system. But not always. Sometimes a certain position does not suit a colleague. Or some people lack certain skills.
That is why we work with specific instruments to investigate and improve cooperation. Working together in groups, in teams, between departments, between business units and in a supply chain, all need their own approach.
For example: for teams we work with the Harvard method Team Diagnostic Survey (Wageman). A scientifically validated instrument determines how effective a team is and which aspects can be improved.
Working together in groups can be improved with other tools. For example with Psychological Safety (Edmonson).
